Ready, Set, GO...

Tyler received his call the end of September after waiting 7 months to get cleared by the doctor so he could serve without his ADHD medication he had been on since he was 3 yrs old. After a couple of set backs his call finally came! He got Jason and Jen on the phone so they could share the exciting news. He read the location to himself and made all of us yell...TELL US!! before he finally announced he would be going to the Oregon, Eugene Mission. Entering the MTC on November 18, 2009. Eric Harrison, Julian Sanchez Martinez and Samatha Stoddard were some of his good friends that were there to hear the news. Brian and Ann with their kids, Elise and Melody, Jenny and Fez, Mom and Dad, along with Grandma Bryson and Grandma Georgia and Grandpa Glen were all in attendance to share in the exciting news.

Tyler realized with going in November he would be within a month of the film showing at the University of Utah, where he needed to show his film (from last Spring's semester) in order to get a grade. So Tyler requested and received a delayed entry into the mission field. He was reassigned to go in with the next group January 6, 2010. He proceded to finish his film and although the showing at the "U" still didn't work out he had a special screening held Dec. 30 at Noah's, where many of his friends and family came to support his talent and his teacher promised to give him the much needed grade.

The day after Thanksgiving, November 27, 2009 was the trip to the Jordan River Temple to receive his endowment. Jason and Jen had come for Thanksgiving (the first time in 5 years) to share this exciting time with Tyler. Brian and Ann, Jenny and Fez, Mom and Dad, Grandma Bryson, Grandma Georgia, Chris and Lu Wells, Chelsea Walker, Steve and Marie Ferre, Brett and Kathryn Ferre, Brandi Gollinger, Megan and Tyler Thurgood, were some of the family and friends that participated in this exciting event. Grandpa Glen was the officiater on the session and Jen and Jason were the witness couple. It was so thrilling for me to have all of my children greet me in the Celestial Room that day. I hope it is the first of many times that will happen!

Jason and Jen were able to come up for Christmas and be part of Tyler's "farewell". Tyler spoke in Sacrament Meeting December 27, 2009 and Jason, Jen, Brian, Ann, Jenny and Fez sang the EFY Medley "Sisters in Zion /We'll Bring the World His Truth". There was a tremendous outpouring of love from all of Tyler's family and friends that came to support him.

January 5, 2010 Tyler was set apart as a missionary by President Rindlesbacher and his counselors, Pres. Taggart and Pres. Crichton. Brian and Ann and girls, Jenny and Fez and Mom and Dad were present. It was a beautiful blessing that promised Tyler many great things as a missionary. Our family went to the Pizza Factory in Orem on our way to the MTC. Tyler had to be there at 1:30. We had been told we would only have long enough to pull out his luggage to say good bye and only one car was allowed in. So we ate a delicious lunch and said our good byes. It was sprinkling rain when we pulled up to the curb. We pulled out his luggage, gave hugs and said goodbye. A missionary had met us at the curb and whisk Tyler away.

So begins his journey as a Missionary...
